Infant Massage Educator Certification Training Program
Pre-requisite: None
28 Continuing Education hours
$650 Tuition

This is an Infant Massage USA (IMUSA) certification course.

The student need not be a massage therapist to take this course! All we ask is that the student is at least 18 years of age and has a compassionate heart. In this class, the student will learn the history of infant massage, infant communication, the benefits of infant massage and relevant research facts. The student will be able to demonstrate knowledge & skill in guiding parents & families in the practical application of infant massage, adapt massage for special needs, and apply this knowledge & skill for use in group & private instruction. Creative marketing and public relation strategies are offered to help the student succeed in this new career. Certification enables the student to guide parents & caregivers how to massage their children. This is not a hands-on-baby course. Trainers, Instructors & Students use baby dolls to practice & demonstrate strokes.

This course includes:
  • The Instructor’s Manual
  • The book Infant Massage; A Handbook for Loving Parents
  • Comprehensive up-to-date course materials
  • The experience of a supervised parent-baby class
  • A first year's membership with the IMUSA
  • A link to our International Body headquartered in Sweden

The student will experience a supervised parent-baby class, receive first year's membership with the IMUSA and the Trainer is committed to the certification process for each student. Certification earns the individual internationally recognized status. The title ‘Certified Educator of Infant Massage’ is granted after attending and participating in the full 4-day course, fulfilling verified practicum hours and successfully completing a take-home exam.

This class along with the take home exam and practicum hours may be eligible for 56 continuing education hours through the National Certification Board of Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork (NCBTMB).

Insurance coverage for individuals certified as Infant Massage Instructors working inside & outside the United States can be obtained through ABMP (Associated Massage & Bodywork Professionals). The detail of this coverage is offered in class or can be obtained by an ABMP associate prior to class. For more information on insurance coverage, please visit ABMP at www.abmp.com.

There is a component of our curriculum that encompasses massage for infants with special needs. We have International Guidelines for massage with infants with special needs - that includes NICU care, and populations who are 'at-risk'. Each hospital normally has there own protocol for this type of care. My background as a Certified Instructor/Educator with this internationally recognized program enhances the work ten-fold.

The student may earn Continuing Education Hours through their relevant group, association or organization. To receive confirmation of hours attended, the student must indicate that they wish to receive a 'Certificate of Attendance' to the trainer before the end of the 4-day course - this is all discussed before the end of the training.
