Fundamentals of Bodywork Therapy with Survivors of Sexual Abuse


Since 1979, Donna C. Cerio’s years as a Holistic Health Professional have included private practice and
education in academic, bodywork, and medical settings. She developed Intentional Touch™, a body of
work that addresses the needs of people recovering from sexual abuse and other traumatic experiences,
having surgery, suffering from serious illness, and those who deal with chronic emotional, physical and/or
mental pain.

Donna is published on the subject of delivering health care to survivors of sexual abuse in a variety of
publications such as Massage Magazine, Florida AMTA Journal, Zero Balancing Journals in the US and
UK and the McGraw Hill Textbook New Foundations in Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork, by Jan
Sager.

Donna served as founding director of the Holistic Health Program at the University of California at Santa
Cruz, for 20 years. She trained and certified thousands of staff, students and instructors and remained on
staff at the University as a Master Instructor for 22 years.

Ms. Cerio is an approved CEU provider by the California Board of Registered Nursing, #CEP 13560;
the California Acupuncture Board, #CEP 660; The National Certification Board of Therapeutic Massage
and Bodywork, # 398238-00; the Florida Board of Massage Therapy, #CE 50-4153; and the Texas
Department of Health Services, #CEO556. She is a member of the International Association of Health
Care Practitioners, American Massage Therapy Association, Process Acupressure Unlimited, and the
Zero Balancing Health Association. She has a degree in Social Work and is an instructor in Holistic
Health Education, Intentional Touch™, and Zero Balancing.

Currently Donna is in the dissertation phase of her doctorate, her subject being Delivering Health Care to
Survivors of Sexual Abuse. She delivers educational seminars and on site services locally and across the
nation.

This inspiring 12-hour workshop offers an introductory working knowledge needed to work with clients
who are suffering from the aftermath of sexual abuse and trauma in general. Heightening awareness of
the specific nuances of this client population as a bodywork client and learning how and why to make
fundamental adjustments in the approach to touch are the hallmarks of this 12 hour training.

Class includes lecture, interactive activities, case studies and guided hands-on practice.
